Scholarship Winners

2008 

Each year, it is the intent of the Institute of Supply Management, Finger Lakes Region, to provide Academic Scholarships to our local communities institutes of higher learning, specifically Corning Community College, Elmira College. The criteria for the scholarship is: the student must be enrolled as a full time, Business Major, Minimum Grade point Average of 3.0. The students must write an essay on their understanding of, and interest in purchasing as a career.

ISM Finger Lakes Region would like to congratulate our Scholarship winners for 2008. At our awards dinner on March 13th, awards of $1000.00 each were given to Krista Matia and Dana Decker from Elmira College.

Krista Matia is a Junior at Elmira College and has a 3.6 GPA. She will graduate in 2009 with a BS in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing, Management, Accounting and Economics. Having worked as a Sales Associate for Rue 21, Inc., a Career Assistant in the Office of Counseling and Carrier Services and interned in Supply Chain at Schweitzer Aircraft, she has a varied background for whatever she endeavors. Her activities include Secretary, Finance Board at Elmira College, Public Relations chair for Elmira College Ski Club and Office Volunteer for Elmira Downtown Development Office. Awards and Honors include Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society Member, Trustee Scholar Award and has had an essay published in "Selected Freshman Essays" at Elmira College. Congratulations to Krista and good luck in the future.

Dana Decker is a Senior at Elmira College and has a 3.785 GPA. Dana will graduate in 2008 with a BS in Business Administration, specializing in Management and Marketing. He is currently doing a field related internship with Image Packaging of Horwitz. His activities include Varsity Golf Team, Real Estate, Hockey and Community service. Dana has recently earned is Real Estate License and is employed by Signature Reality. Congratulations Dana and the best to you in your chosen field.
