Scholarship Winners
Each year, it is the intent of the Institute of Supply Management, Finger Lakes Region, to provide Academic Scholarships to our local communities institutes of higher learning, specifically Corning Community College, Elmira College. The criteria for the scholarship is: the student must be enrolled as a full time, Business Major, Minimum Grade point Average of 3.0. The students must write an essay on their understanding of, and interest in purchasing as a career.
ISM Finger Lakes Region would like to congratulate our Scholarship winners for 2009. At our awards dinner on March 26th, awards of $1000.00 each were given to Michelle Pratt, Alia Pyros, and Allison Holsinger from Elmira College.
Michelle
Pratt, a Sophomore with Junior standing at Elmira College is majoring in
Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing, Management, and
Economics. She does work study in Counseling and Career services and is an
Economics tutor. Her activities include Marketing and Management Club, JV
Basketball, and JV Coccer. Michelle has a vision of her future and knows what
she needs to do to fulfill her aspirations. With such a positive attitude, we
know Michelle will attain her dream job.
Alia
Pyros is a Junior at Elmira College majoring in Business Administration,
specializing in Management, Marketing, and Economics. She has been a Senator in
Marketing and Management Club, Freshmen Orientation Leader, Elmira College Ambassador,
Treasurer of International Club, Member of SIFE, Member of Student Association
Review Committee, Member of EC SOAR program, and a Member of Institute of Supply
Management, Finger Lakes Region. Her honors and awards include Presidential
Scholarship recipient and Deans List since 2006, and November 2008 Athlete of
the Month in the College Newsletter. Alia was also Women's Varsity Tennis Team
Captain in 2008. Her work experience includes The Bargain Hut as Sales
Associate, PYCA Enterprises, Ltd Intern, Ward-Nasse Gallery Intern and Sales
Associate. Sports Information Assistant and Research Assistant. Alia has studied
in New York City and abroad in Australia and completed two summer sessions of
business classes at Fordham University.
Allison
Holsinger is a Junior majoring in International Business and Economics at Elmira
College. She has been inducted into Sigma Beta Delta National Business Honor
Society, and Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Society. She is also a
recipient of the Valedictorian Scholarship. Her extracurricular activities
include tutoring in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, a member of Students In
Free Enterprise, Marketing and Management Club, Model United Nations and plays
Varsity Field Hockey. Allison's work experience includes Smiles by Holsinger
& Higgins as an Administrative Assistant. She also worked for Benchworks as
MD Marketing Services Intern. Allison is a member of the Dean's List and Honors
Scholar from 2006 to present.
